"I would like to thank the FDNY Steuben Association for this generous scholarship. It is an honor to receive it.
I just finished 8th grade at the East Islip Middle School and will be entering the 9th grade at the East Islip High School in the fall of 2017. In addition to being a member of the Tri-M Honor Society, I am a member of the Broadway Dance Theater Dance Team and regularly perform in musicals at the Bayway Arts Center. This past year at the East Middle School, I received a special award for maintaining a GPA over 95 for each quarter in the middle school. I am looking forward to starting high school  in the fall.
Thank You for this award. Sincerely, Emily Rottkamp." (looks like there is no limit for Emily...)

and we have two young men that also won $200.00

First up we have-Charles Joseph Archul ("CJ"), sponsored by his Father, Charles Archul ( L-14) Ret.

"CJ" writes:

"Hello, my name is Charles Archul. I would like to thank the FDNY Steuben Association for awarding me with a kind scholarship.
I have just finished Felix Festa Middle School in West Nyack, NY.  I have had successful seasons playing on my middle school soccer team in 7th and 8th grade and also on my school's baseball team in 8th grade. I enjoyed building friendships and growing through my middle school years. I am proud of my German Heritage and the fact that I had the opportunity to visit Germany in 2014. My family and I visited the town that my "Opa", lived in prior to coming to the United States. As a German-American I continue to learn more about my heritage everyday.
Finally, I would like to thank my parents for everything they do for me going above and beyond each day. I'm excited for my high school experience. Again, a big thank you to the FDNY Steuben Association for my award, it is very much appreciated.
Charles Archul"

(it's our pleasure, Charles)

Our 2nd winner is Thomas Steck, sponsored by his Father, Michael Steck (Division 15)

"I would like to thank the FDNY Steuben Association for awarding me such a generous scholarship, it truly means a lot. I have just finished my Junior High years at Floral Park Memorial and in the fall I will be attending Chaminade High School. This year I made and maintained the High-Honor Roll throughout the entire school year while receiving outstanding achievement in Social Studies and Technology. I also participated in JH lacrosse and basketball for Floral Park Memorial. Outside of school, I played CYO basketball for my parish as well as a travel lacrosse team.
I am looking forward to the future that lies ahead and what it has in store. I would once again like to thank the FDNY Steuben Association as well as my great parents. They have always been there for me, especially my Dad, Michael, who is currently a Captain in the FDNY.

Thomas Steck."
